Frequently Asked Questions

Who will I be working with?

Both Joe Roddy and Steve Mayer will be working with you personally. West End Advisory Group uses a team approach with our clients so you can be confident that, when you contact our office, there will be someone here who knows you. See our bios to learn more about us:

Have you ever been disciplined by a federal or state financial regulator? Have you ever had a professional license revoked?

No. Look us up at brokercheck.finra.org.

What is West End Advisory Group’s process?

We believe in holistic financial planning and will customize a plan specifically for you. Knowing how much, when, and why you will need your money are important factors in planning your future and your investments. Therefore, using powerful financial-planning software, we follow a 5-step process that closely mirrors the procedure recommended by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.

Do you have minimum investment requirements?

While we don’t have a specific minimum, our process is time intensive, and we expect our clients to have $250,000 of investable assets over time. (Our average client has $1-2 million in investable assets.) Most importantly, our clients realize the value of having a financial roadmap and someone to help guide them. We are not a good option for someone seeking a "do it yourself" approach.

What should I expect at our first meeting?

We want to meet you and make sure that we are a good match for each other by discussing your current situation and financial goals. Some of the documents you should bring to our first meeting include:

  • Your latest tax return
  • Your statement from Social Security
  • Your most recent paycheck stub
  • Statements from your IRAs, 401(k)s and life insurance
  • Information on any pension for which you may be eligible
  • Description of any stock-option programs in which you participate
  • Wills and trust documents

What makes West End Advisory Group different?

We believe:

  • In planning before investing, because knowing how much money you need, and when you will need it, are important factors in your investment journey.
  • That our advisory clients deserve nothing less than a fiduciary partnership, built on a foundation of trust and transparent fees.
  • In using a team approach, so there will always be someone here who knows you personally.

What do you charge?

Our fees are based on the complexity of your unique financial needs and may vary accordingly. The fees outlined are estimates, and we will confirm the final fee before services begin.
